Hey, I’m Tilly...
The artist behind the prints and the founder of this business.
I grew up on a dairy farm, so cows quickly became my favourite (and most available!) subject to draw and paint. I even spent my sixth form art project painting cows on enormous canvases, which is where my love of creating art that makes people smile really began.
After studying Agriculture with Animal Science at Newcastle University, I realised full-time farming wasn't quite my vibe. I'm much more of a "put my wellies on when I feel like it" kind of farmer! Alongside my degree, I completed an Interior Design diploma, which eventually led me into the interiors industry.
I started Tilly Lock Art in January 2025 as a little side project to help fund my dream of launching a fabric line. The funding never came through, but everything happens for a reason! What was only ever meant to be temporary quickly grew into something far bigger than I could have imagined.
Fast forward to February 2026, and Tilly Lock Art became my full-time job, which still seems absolutely mad to me! From packing prints on my bedroom floor (and eventually taking over my parents' living room!), I now have my very own studio in Sussex - the Tilly Lock Art HQ!
It's where everything happens, from printing and hand-signing each artwork to framing and carefully packaging orders. I've also introduced a collection of beautiful UK-made frames in 12 different colours, all assembled by hand in the studio.
The team has grown too, with the lovely Emma helping pack orders, although my family are still very much involved! We've come a long way from those 5:30am packing sessions around the kitchen table before I'd head off to work. My parents, brothers, boyfriend and even my little niece have all been roped in at some point. It really is a full Team Lock effort!
One of my favourite things is meeting customers at events and seeing my artwork hanging in your homes. It still amazes me that people want to put my prints on their walls, and I don't think that feeling will ever wear off.
I feel incredibly lucky to have turned something I love into my full-time job, and none of it would be possible without you. Whether you've bought a print, visited me at an event or simply followed along, thank you so much for supporting my little business. It really does mean the world!
